This is Great News I hope other OEMs will follow Dells example soon -
Vista's failure had to be the reasoning for this.

Open Souce is for the good of everyone.

Unfortunately, Ubuntu (as well as the other Linux distributions) does not support Windows programs natively.

There is a program called Wine that allows you to run some Windows programs within Linux, however it doesn't work 100% of the time.

Typically there are alternative programs that you can use that have the same functionality as their Windows equivalents.

Unless you're willing to give up Photoshop (or live with it working within Linux slower than in Windows), Ubuntu might not be for you. But for your second machine, it is certainly an option.

The system I'm putting together for the boys will dual-boot both Windows 98 (for their games) and Ubuntu (for everything else), so you'll have a chance to try it out soon. I'll shoot you an email when it's all ready. Shouldn't be later than the end of the week.
