With Internet explorer being the standered web browser in windows have you even tried a different browser if so what are your thoughts? I personally find Firefox far superior to IE6, From tabbed-browsing to its better management of bookmarks, Firefox even has some fantastic plug-ins that support in browser FTP and synchronization of bookmarks. There are hundreds of plug-ins available all for free. If you have not tried Firefox You should give it a try!

I tried the new Beta IE 7.0 which pretty much mimicks Firefox, it seems ok but it randomly crashes for no apparent reason alot so far.

I haven't had a chance to try the new IE 7 beta, but to be honest, I have no real desire to. I use Firefox 99.95% of the time -- the only time I use IE anymore is to make sure new additions to the website look the way they should when viewed with IE... :D

It doesn't shock me that IE7 would mimick Firefox, after all Microsoft does very few things right without copying off some one else.

My computer programming teacher got me hooked on firefox a few years ago. I will never go back to IE. Firefox seems more secure, streamlined, and easily adapts to what I want it to do. Only complaint is occasionally some websites wont load correctly with it, but this is extremely rare.

Yea, Page formatting can be a problem, however that is due to poor web design more than anything.

I think I've gotta' disagree there.

For many things inside of design (though the listing does get smaller each week) there just isn't a way to do something.

The "static watermark" is a great sample.

Check the 2GuysTalking (

) front in IE and Firefox for a sample.

There is no way to accomplish something like that inside of Firefox. It's not because it's bad design, it's because there's nothing offered to do the same thing inside of FF.

In most cases, design can be altered to make things happen to work "in all" browsers, but it's not a sure thing by anystretch.

I see what you are talking about, but your page is still usable in Firefox, I have come across some pages that do not work at all. I don't know much about web site design but, Why is it that some sites only cater to IE ? For instance the one that kills me is that ITT-Tech's on-line program can only be accessed through IE – It's a Technical School It says it Right there in the name you would think that out of all schools they would make it user friendly to all web browsers. Is it that hard?

My issue is sites that use ActiveX, Flash, and other proprietary content heavily. I don't mind having those features there, but don't design the site so that you can't even get to the standard HTML content without clicking through a Flash menu or the like.

Also, I find that Firefox is much speedier than IE for browsing most websites.
