Is anyone else tired of the political mudslinging over amendment 2. Honestly half of the stuff they say isn't even true and the other half doesn't say anything at all. I advocate everyone to visist this site below and read exactly what amendment 2 is all about, then make up your mind. Please for the love of everything don't let stupid commerials make this decision for you. This is a very important ordeal for our country and for our future.
by the way I support amendment 2

Snuf
EDIT: After doing some research, it would seem I misspoke regarding Amendment 2.
See my new post below...
Thanks for posting that Snuf. I was not sure what was going on with that. That clear a lot of my questions up with that bill. Tony and I had a discusion about this last week. the embroyes that they were going to be thrown away they should be able to used but they should not make embroyes up for the purpose to use them for stem cell research. Yes Jim I voted YES!!!!!!!!!!!
It would seem there are some misconceptions regarding Amendment 2, some of which had me confused for a while. But...
It would seem that Amendment 2 would indeed bad the cloning of an embryo for the purpose of creating a human clone. However, it does allow for the cloning of a human embryo for the purpose of destroying the resulting embryo and harvesting its stem cells.
Amendment 2 does not simply stop at allowing the unused embryos from en vitro fertilization for stem cell research. It allows for the creation of new embryos for the sole purpose of destroying them for research.
The misconception here comes from the fact that when you read the section of the amendment that claims it bans human cloning, one who believes that an embryo is a human being will assume that the amendment bans the creation of embryos using a cloning process. This is not the case.
I will go into more detail on this issue later, but for now, it is safe to say that I suggest that everyone VOTE NO on Amendment 2.
For a detailed explaination about my views on Amendment 2, as well as the other issues pertaining to the Nov. 7th election, listen to the lastest Twisted Lincoln Talk episode.

Ok
After a long weekend with my girlfriend (a Bio-Chem major and current grad student at SLU in Bio Chem) I found out that "cloning" outside the uterus happens all the time.
First of all it's not as bad as it sounds. The "cloning" that happens when they take a female egg and inject body part specific dna into it. What they are trying to do is not clone a person, but rather a limb or organ of a person. sounds weird I know, but say you were to need a heart transplant, finding a matching donor is difficult as all living humans need their hearts. So you have to wait for a donor to die from something other than a heart related disease or trama, is your blood type, size, and other critera, and also be the first one on the list of recipients for this heart. Assuming all of this to be true and you get the heart keep in mind, this heart was "grown" in someone else's body. It's not your dna, and your body will try and get rid of the foreign object. You actually have to take lots of drugs to keep you body from killing the transplant.
Now what stem cell research and this type of cloning are trying to do is clone your heart and just your heart. All those waiting and compatibility issues are gone, because it is your heart, your dna. This is not just limited to dna either. Nerve cells for paralysis, hands, feet, practically anything.
This is why the anti amendment 2 website is nocloning.org. This method is a form of cloning, but they are not creating people.
Just something I learned this weekend and thought to share.

It would seem that Amendment 2 won... I'm wondering when the legal challenges will start...
